Adérito Areias also addressed as “The King of Salt” is on the cover of the July and August issue of Angola’s largest economy and business magazine, “Forbes”, one of the world’s most popular magazines that also has its national edition – “Forbes Angola”.
In its most recent edition, the magazine showed the person that is considered the Father of entrepreneurship in Benguela and one of the greatest Angolan entrepreneurs.
Adérito Areias, titled by the magazine as “The King of Salt”, is the leader of the Adérito Areias Group, assuming himself as responsible for 80% of the country’s salt production and employing 5,000 people in his companies. The Group as works in the agriculture, livestock, ship repair and construction areas.
According to the magazine the AA Group guarantees that the salt production and fish freezing business grew at an average rate of 3% per year, in 2015 it skyrocketed 52% to 8 billion kwanzas (about $ 59 million), the equivalent of 79% of the company’s turnover.
When asked about his view of the business environment in the country, Adérito Areias answered: “I am one of those people who thinks the country isn’t bad. We are just going through a tough situation because we seem to have a chip called dollar in our heads. But gradually this chip will change. And when this chip is no longer a dollar and it’s called Kwanza instead, things will change.”
